Why Early Access?“Interstellar Rift is an ambitious indie game that uses a custom build game engine to push for a new kind of space sim. We want players to have the freedom to create and maintain any ship they can imagine. While keeping the world filled with missions and events, in an attempt to create a world that players want to explore and inhabit. Naturally, this comes with many challenges from both a technical as well as a design perspective. In order to tackle these challenges as effective as possible we want players to get in and play as early as possible so we can improve the game in a way that our players will enjoy.Initially we released the game for free to the community.

During this period we have actively listened to feedback and ideas which in turn has helped us to make Interstellar Rift more fun, intuitive and overall a better game. We at Split Polygon aim to continue to use the community’s amazing feedback and support to create the space sim we always wanted to play.”Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?“We estimate that Interstellar Rift will remain in early access until roughly the end of 2018, before we feel the game is ready to be labeled as done. Although due to the nature of the game we could continue development indefinitely beyond the core set of features we have planned. And depending on the success of the game we most likely will do exactly that.”How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?“The early access version is still missing some of the game-play features.

Description Interstellar Rift Interstellar Rift is a First Person Starship Simulator with an emphasis on open world exploration and multiplayer interaction.

However the core has been implemented. 7 August Happy summer holidays everyone! We’re back with a new experimental update for Interstellar Rift. As you might know if you’ve been following our Dev Streams, patch 0.2.10 will focus mostly on adding more settings for servers and server admins. Opening up a whole variety of new ways to customize the game to your play style. We won’t go through all of the settings here, but we’ve listed all of them (including all existing commands for reference), on the, and they are linked in the patch notes. The new commands will allow you to, for example, tweak spawn rates of resources, rename systems and celestial bodies, create new asteroid fields and spawn in Skrill.Besides all the new commands, we’ve also added a new version of the dropbox for server owners, which tracks what resources have been deposited into it, and writes the output to a file. To give an example of its functionality, it can be used in combination with the custom resources introduced a couple of patches ago to create capture the flag minigames, or as a way to have players hand in resources for special rewards. We’ve also updated the A.C.T.R. And the Player store so they can also interact with the custom resources.

If you’re not familiar with them, these commands are also on the wiki.In addition to the new commands, we’ve also added new server settings. Be aware that some of these can’t be changed on the fly and will need server rebuilds if you want to change them after starting a server. New server settings include options like; tweaking Skrill spawn rates, initial NPC station spawn rates, CPU settings, power settings, tool durability settings and more.During the experimental phase of this patch we’ll update and tweak some of these for improved usability, and add the server settings to the menu when you start a new game. For full patch notes, and to leave feedback, see here:Instructions on how to join the experimental branch can be found here:Thank you all for playing and see you star-side!-The Split Polygon Team. About This Game Interstellar Rift is an open world Starship Simulator with an emphasis on ship construction and multi-player interaction. Players can explore and conquer the galaxy with their own custom designed and constructed starship. Space is vast, but you wont have to face it alone, other players will be able to join your crew, and help out, or build their own rival fleet and fight you across the galaxy.Prepare to make these custom build space ships your home when exploring the galaxy! Use the ship editor to design a ship to your liking, from small exploratory vessels to large cargo haulers, or even enormous battleships.

With the editor you build your ship deck by deck, inside and outside. If you'd rather get going immediately you can always browse the workshop for ships that other players made, or you can upload your own blueprints. The galaxy can be a dangerous place, even when playing solo. Strange rifts have opened up, unleashing a hostile race of alien creatures called the Skrill.

If left unchecked, they will take over solar systems wreaking havoc on your enterprising. You can fight them alone, or call in the help of your friends, and man a ship together. But not all pilots will fight for a good cause, pirates and opposing fleets can come after you and your cargo at any time. Fight them ship versus ship, or hack your way aboard their vessels and bring the fight to them, in close quarters shootouts. The economy of Interstellar Rift runs on the resources that can be gathered out in the galaxy.

Vast asteroid belts circle planets and solar systems, filled with precious ores and minerals. Start up your resource extractors, or send out a wave of mining drones to do the hard labour for you.

Visit the stores of LogiCorp and Galactic Trade, or drive a hard bargain with stranded pilots as you delive them fuel. Automate production lines with the ACTR (automated cargo transfer relay), and set up your own store to trade with other players, or any trade drones that might be nearby. After choosing a faction to ally with, the galaxy is open for you to explore. Use rift generators to open up spatial rifts that transport you to new systems, exploring a system will help you map out the galaxy, and pinpoint the location of systems with special resources you might need. Construct new trade posts for the companies and factions that want to expand their influence, and help them set up secure stations and sectors. Take on missions for U-nits, or find good deals across multiple systems to make a profit from.

Although I waited for realy different things to come (npc aliens to shoot at with pistol - or combined systems for faster switching many items trough power group.).I think your update will help to get more reasons and efforts for doing missions/events and switching systems. I think it will be fun to do those things instead of grinding for your first dronebays and then auto mine in every system you want. It feels a little wierd that you need a 'access card' to enter the higher tier systems.

It's hard to suggest a realistical reason how this can physically explained. But beside that, I'm looking forward for that update.Suggestion:-. But beside that, I'm looking forward for that update.Well, technically 'gating' the system access forces you to grind standing (ranks) before you can 'grinding for your first dronebays'. So its rather less of an improvement than a cheesy way to stretch progress without adding gameplay value?!That the 'access cards' feel very weird and somewhat out of place (I fully agree on that) just underlines that its not a good gameplay implementation, imo.

There seems to be some discussing among the dev team about the rift cards.

According to conquitor the cards/tiering also has been introduced to reduce the complexity for newcommers a bit. Also there might/will come more stuff that integrates the tier-system. Theres also discussion if or how they should be producable or not. More to come in a few months, as usual, I guess.Even if I dislike the tier-system and think its more a meaningless time waster, Im somewhat glad that it doesnt get too much into the way of my freedom.

Granted, on a new start I have to waste some time on the unimaginative, generic missions but it could have been worse.Overall, I think proper warnings for 'too complex stuff for newcommers' would have been the better solution instead of torturing all (+experienced) players by crippling their freedom and 'gating content'. =)There should be better ways to handle progression. I still think that e.g. Magnavox dvd vcr recorder combo reviews. Expanding the system colonisation has a lot of promise. Originally posted by:I agree that this access card stuff makes things interesting and offers some options to play with. We dont need to discuss about that. But 'they are' saying what system is off limits, in a world where maybe electricians may exist, and we have pirates with hacking terminals.

It feels wierd that no pilot nor pirat thinks about hacking a rift card or rift generator (like a firewall) to surpass the restriction of the evil rift god companies.:) Yeah hacking into a rift generator.hmmm.sounds like it'd just end up being wasted MBs - because you'd STILL need some kind of ammo or card to hack it:p.
