May 13, 2017. The most common Yamaha serial numbers follow a system that uses 2 letters, followed by 5 numbers. Let's look at an example of what this might look like – MM12022. From this we can tell that this is the 22nd guitar built on June 12 of either 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996 or 2006. So how does this work? Yamaha wasn't an exception in this matter. Most of the manufacturers had nine months to implement this new rule on their assemblies. So if you plan to buy a bike of that year, the Yamaha VIN decoder can ask you to add a few more characters. The number was shorter, however, it can be decoded into the new VIN. Yamaha serial numbers for electric and bass guitars In 1887, Yamaha (then Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd.) began producing reed organs in Japan.

Hey, thanks for the number! I'll try to get some more pics posted, but really, it looks just like it does in the picks I already posted. It's a really cool bass and I'm enjoying it a lot. Very comfortable neck, nice deep sound from the P pickups. The J pickup I'd like to get more growl out of, but I'll be putting flats on it soon so I'll wait to see what's what after the string change.Do all the Yamaha's have this comfortable neck? Or is this neck shape a MIJ thing from the eighties?

I went through a bunch of basses with wide, flat necks that I just couldn't get along with. This is much better. Very quality feel too. I finally got my case for my new(er) RBXJM2, and because I've a gig this weekend I brought 'Bliss' home from the studio and paired her alongside 'double Bliss.' Oh, and because I went through so much CRAP with US Customs and the USPS (another thread here), I thought I'd shoot a pic of the twins in their new beds getting ready for a fun day of earth-cracking thunderThe Warwick Rock Case is the only heavier-duty case I've found that fits the RBXJM2 like a glove, with a little wriggle room. It's definitely bare bones inside, but it is an incredible case.Oh, and if anyone is interested (prolly not), I've started a Yamaha RBXJM2 aficionado Fbook page, as there isn't a lot of info available on these basses. I'm hoping that other RBXJM2 owners can check in and leave or pick up something useful about these awesome instruments.

Contact me for more info. The bass is so nice I did them twice! Bliss and double Bliss! Hi all, first post here.

After lurking for probably way too long, I thought I would try my hand at posting my RBXs. My blue RBX250 has an upgraded heavy bridge, new pots and an SD Quarter Pounder I had laying around. The red 200 I purchased off the bay. I reamed the tuner holes and replaced the tuners, then found it a new bridge. I also did a full shielding and grounding, replaced the pots and used the pickup from the 250.

I'm pretty happy with the sound, so the pickups probably stay for now. Both are sporting Chrome Flats.
